Cassie Strawn, MA, serves as a Health Communication Specialist in the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) National Center for Injury Prevention and Control. In this role, she works on special communication projects and helps manage social media channels for the center. Previously, Ms. Strawn worked seven years as a member of the Strategic Communication Team for CDC’s Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity, where she managed media relations and advised on strategic communication for the division’s breastfeeding, infant feeding and international micronutrient malnutrition subject matter. Ms. Strawn completed her master’s in journalism and mass communication from the University of Georgia and holds a bachelor’s in English from Millsaps College. Before starting graduate school, she worked on Capitol Hill, starting as a staff assistant and working her way to Press Secretary for her hometown congressman.
