Acting Administrator, United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)
Chuck Rosenberg, MPP, JD, brings an extensive federal prosecutorial and legal background to his new role as Acting Administrator of the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Prior to being appointed to his current post in May 2015, Mr. Rosenberg served as Chief of Staff and Senior Counselor to Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director James B. Comey. Before that, Mr. Rosenberg was a partner at a Washington, D.C., law firm; served as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, which is routinely entrusted with many of the nation’s most sensitive terrorism and national security prosecutions; and served as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Texas. From 1994-2005, he served in several senior posts at the Department of Justice, where his work focused on counterterrorism, counterintelligence, national security and criminal matters. These roles included Chief of Staff to Deputy Attorney General Jim Comey, counselor to Attorney General John Ashcroft, counsel to FBI Director Robert Mueller, and an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia. Mr. Rosenberg is a graduate of Tufts University, holds a Master of Public Policy degree from Harvard University, and a JD degree from the University of Virginia.
