Education & Advocacy: A Consensus Roadmap to Curb Deaths from Rx Drug Misuse and Abuse in the U.S.
Dr. Alex Cahana, MD, is an affiliate Professor in Pain Medicine and Bioethics at the University of Washington (UW). He served as Chief of the Division of Pain Medicine at UW and was awarded the American Pain Society Center of Excellence; World Institute of Pain best program; and received the Honorable Mention for Innovation Health Care of the Association of American Medical Colleges. Dr. Cahana is a decorated combat officer in the Israeli Defense Forces and served as a subject matter expert for the Department of Defense, the Veterans Administration, and State of Washington. He holds degrees in bioethics and received in 2012 the University of Washington “President’s Medal” for remarkable leadership and service. He is active in state and federal policies, which already reduced opioid-related deaths in the State of Washington. Dr. Cahana has appeared on “CNN Sanjay Gupta MD” with President Clinton, NBC Nightly News with Bob Bazell, PBS, NPR, TEDx, and The New York Times.
