Dr. Louis E. Baxter, Sr., MD, FASAM, is President and Chief Executive Officer, Professional Assistance Program of New Jersey, Inc., and Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Baxter is a Fellow, Past President and Board Chairman of the American Society of Addiction Medicine; director for the American Board of Addiction Medicine; and member of the American College of Sports Medicine, National Board of Medical Examiners, Drug Testing Advisory Board for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, National Advisory Council for the National Institute on Drug Abuse and the Food and Drug Administration, the USADA Review Panel, and the Liaison Council for the Office of National Drug Control Policy. He is a substance abuse consultant for both the National Football League and National Basketball Association, and member of the U.S. Olympic Anti-doping Committee. Dr. Baxter is a past board member of the National Association of Drug Court Professionals. Dr. Baxter received his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine, performed his internal medicine internship and residency at the Cooper Hospital University Medical Center in New Jersey, and Fellowship in addiction medicine from Portsmouth Hospital in Virginia.
