United States Senator, D-West Virginia
U.S. Senator Joe Manchin serves one of the states impacted the hardest by our nation’s Rx drug problems. He was sworn into the United States Senate in November 2010 to fill the seat left vacant by the late Senator Robert C. Byrd. Growing up he learned the values of family, common sense, fairness and hard work. As a small businessman, he learned firsthand from his grandparents the importance of public service. From his days as a state legislator to his six years as Governor to his current role, Senator Manchin is known for connecting with all of his constituents and seeking solutions through a bipartisan approach. In May 2015, Senator Manchin helped launch the Senate Caucus on Prescription Drug Abuse, a bipartisan effort to raise awareness about the significant harms of Rx drug abuse. He is recognized for his leadership on substance abuse issues.
