Vito Guarino, MA, has more than 36 years of law enforcement experience. He began his career with the Essex County Police Department in Newark, NJ, and was hired as a Special Agent with the Miami Division of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in 1985. He was promoted in 2002 and served as the liaison to the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), providing oversight and guidance to the National High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program. Mr. Giarino was assigned to the Caribbean Division as Assistant Special Agent in Charge (SAC) in 2004, and reassigned to the Philadelphia Division in 2009, where he expanded law enforcement programs and increased DEA’s participation in community outreach and prevention programs. In February 2013, Mr. Guarino was promoted to the SAC of the Caribbean Division for DEA, where he was responsible for enforcing the federal drug laws in the southernmost border of the United States with both domestic and foreign enforcement responsibility covering the critical trafficking routes of the Eastern, Central and Western Caribbean. A native of Newark, NH, Mr. Guarino graduated with a bachelor’s in criminal justice from Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA, and received a master of arts in education/criminal justice from William Paterson College in Wayne, NJ.
